What are Dolch sight words?
Edward Dolch developed a list of words that appear prevalently in children's books. The words are phonetically simple to make reading easier using patterns your child will recognize. The words are divided into age appropriate levels and are thought to comprise 50-75% of words found in school books. Below is a list of words your first grade child should be reading by the school year's end. Many of these words should already be familiar to your child as they are called pre-primer and primer words...your child might know them as their "snap words".
